Boisterous Winds

Do you ever feel like the disciples in the boat? They were rowing and toiling but the winds and waves were beating against them and they were getting nowhere.  They were in that boat in obedience to the Lord, and they were going where He had told them to go.  They weren’t running from God like Jonah, they were smack dab in the middle of God’s will doing what He had told them to do, and the winds and waves were beating down upon them.

Listen to a segment of Dr. Williams' sermon, Why Storm Comes:

Sometimes it seems futile and hopeless, but there is one thing to remember at such a time in our lives–as the Lord was in the mountain praying for the disciples while they were being tossed about on the sea, so is He also praying for you and me.  He is with you! Therefore, don't quit! Every promise in the Bible is true, because it is His Word, and He is the truth.  Don’t give up!  Don’t stop believing!  Sing and praise Him even when you don’t feel like it.  In order to have a testimony, we have to be tested, and when He has tried us, like Job, we will come forth as gold.  Resist our adversary the devil and he will flee.  He has to, because the Bible said so.

I remember my husband telling of a time when he was setting up their motor home and anything and everything that could go wrong went wrong.  He just kept patiently going, and after an hour of this, a gentleman from another site came over to him.  He said, Sir, you have to be a Christian. No one goes through all you are going through with this motor home so calmly as you are. As a result, Dr. Williams was able to talk to that man about the Lord Jesus Christ.

The winds may be boisterous, but the Lord is there, and He is praying for His own. It is my desire to encourage you and myself with these word—Jesus is coming again! Take heart! He has a hold of us with His everlasting arms.

Reflections:

This week, when the winds and waves come, pause and thank God for His presence before you respond. Choose one promise from God’s Word to carry with you throughout the week.
