Shout the Victory in Jesus
Praying John Hyde, a missionary to India in the early 1900’s, was one of the men who greatly affected my husband’s life of prayer and faith. John Hyde was a man who gave himself to prayer for the souls of men and the work of God. If you haven’t ever read the book titled, Praying Hyde, I would highly recommend it. Several years ago, my husband and I were in Illinois where he was preaching a revival meeting. One day, while we were there, we drove the short distance to where

Every Promise is Mine
There was a period of time when several people told my husband that they thought he shouldn’t spend time on the hymns like he did at the beginning of each Facing Tomorrow radio program; however, he chose to listen to the leading of God’s voice, and kept on reading and commenting on the old hymns. I am so glad he did! This morning, as I do every morning, I listened to his radio broadcasts, and our Father used a hymn to boost my spirits and rejoice my heart. It actually was

Pray One for Another
One of the things my husband was greatly known for was prayer. God had taken him through the school of prayer by fiery trials, and as a result, he knew how to get hold of God in prayer. When his wife, Pam, was in the hospital, he testified that after having been to the financial office where they told him he needed $3000.00 by 3:00 pm that day in order to continue her care, he got on an elevator alone and prayed. He spoke with the heavenly Father saying, “Father, it’s Tom.

If I Pray, I Won't Faint
The daily Bible verse that came up today was Luke 18:1–And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint. As I read that verse, I could hear, in my mind, my husband saying, I make one conclusion from this verse, if I pray, I won’t faint when life’s difficulties come. He often challenged Christians to not give up praying from this portion of Scripture. He not only exhorted us to keep praying, but He showed us, by example, how true

Wonderful Grace of God
As I was reading the Bible this morning, I had to pause as I read the phrase, For I am gracious, in Exodus 22:27. Think of that—Almighty God is gracious! It filled my heart once again with the wonder and joy of my salvation. It was by the grace of God that Salvation came down to man. As I sat with my Bible in hand, my thoughts went to my husband’s salvation testimony. He was 14 when he went forward in a church service and prayed the “sinner’s prayer” and was baptized; how

Trust Me
Throughout the Christian life, our Heavenly Father is constantly speaking to us these powerful two words, Trust Me. He continually asks, Will you trust Me? When we’re up between a rock and a hard place like Moses and the children of Israel were—the Red Sea in front of them and Pharaoh's army closing in behind them, He says, Trust Me. When things don’t turn out the way we had expected, He says, Trust Me. When the way isn’t clear to us, He says, Trust Me. And as we read th

His Thoughts
Isn’t it true that in our lowest moments the tempter comes to tempt us to believe we are alone in our difficulty, or no one cares, or any number of temptations to think we have been deserted, forgotten or neglected? I don’t know where you are emotionally as you read this, but let me encourage you to resist the devil’s temptations with God’s Word! Declare to the tempter that God’s Word says, Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts wh

At the Feet of Jesus
Mary, Martha’s sister, was at the feet of Jesus when He, in Luke 10:42, told Martha that her sister had chosen the good part. Mary was also at the Lord Jesus’ feet when her brother, Lazarus had died—Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.(John 11:32) She is once again at the Lord Jesus’ feet when she anointed His feet with the costly spikenard ointment in John

Obedience
At various times, my husband was asked the question, If there is one message you could preach, what would it be? He would always answer with the same single word, Obedience . He always said that if we would just obey God, we would be one hundred percent in tune with His will. If we would obey God, we would read our Bibles, we would pray, we would love our enemies let alone one another, we would forgive as we have been forgiven, we would be a light and witness to others for

Did You Think to Pray?
One question my husband frequently asked so many as well as himself was, Did you think to pray? Throughout the Bible we are exhorted to pray about everything; and yet, as in the words of my husband: We work, we run here and there, but we take so little time to pray. I remember so many accounts of my husband asking the question, Did you think to pray, and one such time was when the bus mechanic, at the church my husband was attending, had been working all day to fit a part

Believing Prayer
Just a few years prior to my husband entering into Heaven he was asked to teach the teens at teen camp on prayer. He was so passionate about prayer, because he was so dependent upon God for literally everything. I can honestly say that my husband prayed about everything from safety as we travelled to help with snapping a shirt button. His desire was to encourage Christians to pray and believe God so that they too would know the fullness of God’s glory and realize the utter

In God's Hands
Have you ever been at a loss as to how to do something, especially when you have never done that particular thing before? After you make a decision and carry it out, do you have second thoughts of, Did I do the right thing? To which you answer, I don’t know! Second guessing ourselves doesn’t do anything to help us, and it sure doesn’t give us any stability. Most all of us know the verse in Proverbs that tells us to Commit [our] works unto the LORD, and [our] thoughts shal

Consider
When life seems to be more difficult than you can stand, when situations seem to be more overwhelming than you can handle; when Satan tempts you to doubt; when you feel like you are teetering on the brink of destruction, consider the words that Moses spoke to the nation of Israel: Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else—Deuteronomy 4:39. The LORD is God! He is faithful! H

Make Me a Blessing
On each Facing Tomorrow radio broadcast, Dr. Williams would read a hymn, and often he would share commentary on it, which I always enjoyed hearing. In this particular broadcast he read the hymn, Make Me A Blessing. If I heard him once, I heard him multiple times pray and ask our Father to make him a blessing. He looked for ways in which he could be a blessing, and God did make him a blessing. One way he was a blessing to many was by the way he could make people laugh. H

Faith--Believing God
I had a front row seat to watch my husband exercise amazing faith in God multiple times, and when he was alive, it was so easy for me to believe God. However, watching someone exercise faith and exercising faith yourself are polar opposites! Since his passing, I have experienced these exercises in faith while going forward with the Tom Williams Evangelistic Ministries, and they are definitely not easy exercises. In fact, I have found them more difficult than the conditionin

Lead Me to the Rock Higher Than I
There comes a time or times in our lives when no one can help but God. Humanly speaking, the greatest doctor is limited in ability; the greatest scientist is limited in understanding, the greatest parent is limited to help their child, the greatest human being, in whatever case, is always going to be limited, but God is never limited! He has all power. He never weakens in strength. He never needs to sleep. He is wisdom. He is love. He is limitless in His resources to

Moment by Moment
Sometimes our life circumstances become overwhelming and facing each new day is a struggle. It certainly was for me, as a new widow, striving to obey God’s will and go forward with the Tom Williams Evangelistic Ministries. I know it was for my beloved husband who became a widower in his early twenties, and as a result a single parent to a 2 year old son and newborn daughter; and then, going through the heartache of his baby daughter’s death not long after his wife had died.

Perseverance
On the sink in our bathroom sat a small chalk board, with the heading, I love you because… and then we took turns filling in the blank with the reasons we loved one another. The chalk board remains on the sink and the last thing I wrote on it has not been erased. I simply wrote two words to complete the sentence I love you because— You Persevere. My husband was known for prayer and faith along with many other qualities, and one of those qualities was that he persevered.

Sing
My husband and I would sing hymns driving to church on Sunday mornings when we were home, or we would sing as we were driving across the country from meeting to meeting. We also sang in our home together. He loved to praise the Lord in song! Neither one of us could sing a lick, but we sure were able to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” Listen to Dr. Williams sing in this Facing Tomorrow Segment: Singing praises to the Lord is so healthy. It refreshes our spirit, turns ou

Abiding Peace
As a follower of Jesus Christ, we have a peace that passes understanding; a peace that remains regardless of our circumstances. Our outward circumstances may change, but the peace of God never changes. In the midst of uncertainty, upheaval, or unrest due to certain circumstances in our lives, we can still have that undisturbed peace within. It is a peace that enfolds us like a cozy warm blanket wrapped around us on cold winter days. Click to listen to this segment: I have
