Moments of Weakness

We’ve all had them, haven’t we, those moments of weakness? The moment when God asked us to send a note of encouragement to someone, but we never got it done. The moment God called us to prayer, but we were too busy to go pray; or, He woke us up to pray, and we didn’t get up. There are many moments of weakness in our lives, like saying, “No” to that extra helping, but instead saying, “Yes”. Or what about the time–and yes, even times–when the Holy Spirit within us nudged us to go speak to someone about the Lord Jesus Christ, but we didn’t obey His voice? Then there are times when we pray for something, like being a witness to our neighbor and God opens that door in a way that may not be clear to someone else, but is clear to us, and we keep saying, “I’ll take care of that tomorrow”, but tomorrow comes and goes and it is still left undone. We can look in the Bible and read about those who experienced moments of weakness. People like King David, Samson, Peter and the list can go on. And just like them we have experienced our moments of weakness also. We can choose to let the devil discourage us and continue to lament those weak moments or we can choose to praise the Lord, “ for he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.” (Psalm 103:14) And “He is able to make all grace abound toward us, so that those weak moments can become blessings of His grace. The Devil will accuse us, but the Lord Jesus is our advocate and He is praying to the Father on our behalf. Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Yesterday is over, and we cannot go back and change anything. Tomorrow isn’t here yet, but we have today to seek the Lord and His strength in order to overcome the weaknesses of our flesh. It is possible with God to overcome our weaknesses, and in the power of His might to glorify Him by obedience with the help of the Holy Spirit and in the name of Jesus. We are able to do all things through Christ which strengtheneth us!

Think of one recent moment of weakness, bring it honestly before the Lord, and ask Him for strength to respond differently today.
Ask God to show you one opportunity today to obey His prompting, and then follow through without putting it off.
