Consider

When life seems to be more difficult than you can stand, when situations seem to be more overwhelming than you can handle; when Satan tempts you to doubt; when you feel like you are teetering on the brink of destruction, consider the words that Moses spoke to the nation of Israel: Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else—Deuteronomy 4:39. The LORD is God! He is faithful!  He does not forsake!  He never leaves His children!  He does deliver, and has delivered, and will again deliver!  He is dependable!  The devil torments, but God encourages, comforts, and strengthens.

Dr. Williams continually encouraged believers to turn their eyes upon Jesus. I know that many Christians were encouraged to turn to the Lord, believe the Lord, and lean upon Him in their own fiery trials after hearing Dr. Williams testify how God continually was there for him during his second wife’s illness.  In the early days of her illness,  Dr. Williams, while alone in the hospital elevator, prayed, Father, it’s Tom. The hospital needs $3000.00 by 3:00 this afternoon. When he would tell their story, he shared that he often spoke to our Heavenly Father while in the hospital elevators, and the Father’s response was always, I know. I’ll take care of it.  The required amounts were provided, and they were provided before the deadline the hospital had given him.  I have heard many tell Dr. Williams how they were encouraged to believe God in their own trials after hearing his testimony of God’s unfailing faithfulness to hear and answer prayer.

Taking time to consider the Lord’s faithfulness and His ability by looking into His Word, or listening to testimonies of other believers who have experienced His faithfulness, will help us to become more than conquerors in our own times of trial. Moses also spoke to the assembly of Israel these words: When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them—Deuteronomy 4:30-31.  Life is going to be difficult, so much so at times that it may take the wind out of our sails, but simply take time to consider that the Lord is God, and He will be there for you.  He was there for Moses, for Israel, for Dr. Williams and other saints of His, and He will be there for you and me.

Before going home to Heaven, Dr. Williams completed Nuggets from the Scriptures. The following excerpt from that book can remind us of a comforting truth:

“While the apostles were in the middle of the raging sea, the Lord Jesus came to them, walking on the water. The Lord Jesus walked on the water because He wanted you to know that you can’t go where He can’t come. You will never get into a storm so big that God cannot come to you. I do not know what kind of storm you are in. Maybe you are in deep sorrow or extensive trouble, but whatever it is, you cannot go where He cannot come.

If you would like to read more of these simple but powerful truths, Nuggets from the Scriptures is available for one month for $5 (regularly $9.95). Click below to purchase!

No matter what storm you may face, remember: you cannot go where He cannot come.
