Lamp unto my Feet

ree

Ever since my beloved husband went to be with  the Lord Jesus Christ and the decision was made to continue the Tom Williams Ministries in order that his Spirit filled messages of the Gospel could be carried on into the next generation, I have felt like I’ve been groping in the dark and wondering how in the world do I do this?  So many ideas came hurdling toward me by various ones that I felt overwhelmed, for though the ideas were great, the question remained looming over me—How do I execute these ideas and put them into action?  A wonderful friend told me to have a team in order to carry out the intended plan which would need to consist of, what she called, 1. An Air Traffic Control agent, 2. A Pilot, 3. Flight attendant, and 4. Ground crewmen.  She then proceeded to say, Jeannine, I don’t see you as the air traffic control man or pilot. You’re the flight attendant taking care of everyone.  I thought, exactly!  That’s all I’ve done my entire life–take care of someone.  So, how in the world do I carry this on?  I know I’m no air traffic control person or pilot.  And I’m certainly NO Dr. Tom Williams!  That man embodied faith, prayer, courage, trust, confidence, boldness, ability.  He was the pilot!  Now he’s gone.  I have often thought in these days since his home going, Did I ever have faith?  Did I really know how to pray?  Or was it all my Cowboy Tom’s faith and prayers?  So, I did the only thing I really knew to do, and that was turn to the Word of God, listen to the Spirit filled messages of my husband both on his radio program and his sermons.

Take a few minutes to listen to Dr. Williams’ Facing Tomorrow radio program that so strengthened and encouraged me during this time.

The resounding answer at first was faint, but it grew so loud that it was unmistakable–Trust God!  Look to Him!  The Word of God began to shine brightly for me that my job now was to simply seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, pray without ceasing, and then trust and obey, what a grandson said so perfectly, the True Pilot–Jesus Christ.  For each of God’s children, our true pilot is the Lord Jesus Christ, and The Word of God is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path when we open its pages and seek Him.  Psalm 32:8 says, "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye" This is God’s promise to us that He will personally guide us, instruct us, and give us wise counsel. This has been another verse that I have clung to during these past many months, and I have found His guidance, instruction and counsel at just the time I needed it.

Reflection Questions

  1. Have you ever faced a season where you felt like you were “groping in the dark,” unsure of your next steps? How did God meet you there?

  2. In what ways has God used His Word to give you direction during uncertain times?

  3. How has God reminded you that He is still in control, even when the person you leaned on is no longer there?

  4. What are some ways you can “seek first the Kingdom of God” in this current season of your life?

  5. How has God guided you through His “eye”—that gentle, unseen direction that keeps you on the right path?

  6. Is there a verse or promise that has been your “lamp” lately?

Thank you Jeannine for following the Lord’s guidance in starting this blog. I believe the Father will use your words of wisdom and encouragement and your life experience to help anyone who is struggling to lean closer to Him and His Son. Will be praying for strength and blessings and the Lord’s continued guidance for you on your new journey.
