Lead Me to the Rock Higher Than I

There comes a time or times in our lives when no one can help but God.  Humanly speaking, the greatest doctor is limited in ability; the greatest scientist is limited in understanding, the greatest parent is limited to help their child, the greatest human being, in whatever case, is always going to be limited, but God is never limited!  He has all power.  He never weakens in strength.  He never needs to sleep.  He is wisdom.  He is love.  He is limitless in His resources to supply.  He is our Rock that is higher, mightier, and greater than any human being alive or who has ever lived.  He is faithful!  He never fails.  He keeps every promise He ever made.  He is there waiting to hear His children cry unto Him, and He will help them.

Listen to this segment of Dr. Williams' message:

In 2024 my husband’s journey with declining health began and as the year went on his health never got better, only worse.  During each “phase” God showed up in mighty ways.  He heard our cry and He helped.  I want to share with you the glory of the Lord we experienced during a part of my husband’s declining health in hopes it will encourage you to cry out to Him and believe He is there, and He will help!

We travelled to Oklahoma City where there was a hyperbaric chamber that would take him. Our hope was that it would help save his foot that had become severely infected.  His daughter, Phyllis, helped me to drive him there, and she also stayed a few days to help me get situated.  On that trip he lost mobility and as a result my back went out trying to keep him from a hard fall in the hotel we stayed at the first night on our way to Oklahoma City. The Lord stepped in to help in miraculous ways—his granddaughter was only an hour away from where we stopped to spend the night, so she came over to help get him up and in the car. His niece, who lives in Oklahoma City, put me in contact with a chiropractor, and the chiropractor was able to schedule me the day we arrived. Phyllis was able to locate a company that rented Hoyer Lifts and arranged for one to be delivered the day she flew home.  It turned out not to be suitable for our needs;however, the company was able to locate one even though their books showed all were rented!  Each time I needed help getting my husband in and out of the car, there was always someone there to help—almost like they were planted there just waiting to aid us, which I guess they were, by our ever loving Heavenly Father. Oh, how He loves us so much!  Also friends from Kansas put me in contact with a young lady at a local Bible College who was a tremendous help to me. She did some errand running for me so I could stay with my husband, and he wasn’t left alone. Then miracle of miracles God provided the help we needed when I took my husband to various appointments outside of the hyperbaric Clinic.  I had put on social media a request for prayer, and soon after received a response from a member of a church in Michigan, where my husband regularly preached, saying, Praying from Oklahoma City! I called her and learned that she and her family had moved to Oklahoma City the previous year.  She and her husband volunteered their time to come help us as it was a free week for them with no responsibilities. The wonders of God’s love toward us is amazing.  There were several other miraculous blessings from the Lord while we were there, like the total stranger who paid for our lunch one day, and the waitress who rushed to help me, and walked with me to our vehicle to carry our drinks and leftover containers since I had my hands full steering his wheel chair.  Another total stranger that we met, who also was a sister in Christ, paid for one of his treatments. Everywhere we turned, God was showing up in the face of strangers, friends, Christian brothers and sisters, and we couldn’t help but glorify Him with praise and thanksgiving!

Then the blessing of God’s grace that covered me like a cozy blanket when the surgical podiatrist said to me, Jeannine, he’s not better, he’s worse.  This came after he had  called for the elders of the church  to come and anoint him with oil and pray for his healing. I had to excuse myself and go into the ladies room to get my emotions under control.  While there, God simply spoke to me these words, Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God.  I opened the Bible app on my phone and went to Psalm 42:5 and read it over and over. It put joy in my heart, hope in my soul, and my tears dried up!  I was able to come out rejoicing in the Lord!  My husband was in the hands of Almighty God.  My husband had chosen no treatment other than the prayer of faith and the anointing; therefore, his son Tim, who had flown out, and I drove him back home to Indiana.

God, the Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ is the only help we have when all human help has been exhausted. His will may not always align with ours, but when our will aligns with His, there is a well of living water to drink from, an ocean of grace to draw from, and everlasting and loving arms that we find continuously holding us tight. Truly the Lord goes before us, is with us, will never leave us nor forsake us, and we have nothing to fear, because He is always there and able to help us. When you need help, go to the Rock– Christ Jesus– that is higher than we are.

I remember those months of Dr. Williams declining health. He was such a special man and hearing how his health was declining despite the prayers was hard to bear. But God was in full control of it all, and there's no doubt that God was honored and glorified through this trial. Thank you so much for keeping the ministry running, I'm sure that it is without a doubt still changing lives.

Yes, it was truly hard to bear, but as you said, God was glorifed and honored and was in full control throughout the trial! It is our privilege to keep the ministry going. Thank you so much for continuing to pray and give so that we can continue to move forward with the ministry.
