Moment by Moment

Sometimes our life circumstances become overwhelming and facing each new day is a struggle. It certainly was for me, as a new widow, striving to obey God’s will and go forward with the Tom Williams Evangelistic Ministries. I know it was for my beloved husband who became a widower in his early twenties, and as a result a single parent to a 2 year old son and newborn daughter; and then, going through the heartache of his baby daughter’s death not long after his wife had died.  He also experienced the severe illness of his second wife and the life altering changes that brought as well as her passing after 28 ½ years of living with the effects that bacterial meningitis had on her.  He often mentioned that during his second wife’s illness he would pray each morning, “Give me the grace, help me to face one more day.”  Facing our tomorrows, of whatever sort, can be done moment by moment with the help of God’s grace.

Our Heavenly Father doesn’t expect us to go through this life journey on our own. He is right there with us waiting for us to turn to Him.  His own Son, Jesus Christ, experienced heartache and sorrow throughout His earthly life, and when we look unto Him, we will find how to live for God moment by moment.  Some days have been more difficult than others for me since my husband went home to Heaven, but I have found the same grace of God my husband found during his trials of life.  It’s a grace that helps us live moment by moment.  It’s a grace that keeps us grounded in the love of God and the truth of His Word.  Even now, over a year later, I continue to struggle with the overwhelming ache of missing my beloved husband as well as the enormous weight of leading this ministry forward.  Recently as I listened to one of my husband’s radio broadcasts and heard the phrase, moment by moment, I was reminded it isn’t I, but Christ who is leading this ministry forward. I simply have to follow His lead. And when I am missing my husband, I can think of him in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, and it makes me smile though my heart hurts. I can live for Him with His help moment by moment.  Each moment I look unto the Lord Jesus, I am helped.  We can go on in our overwhelming circumstances, moment by moment, by keeping our focus on the Lord Jesus Christ and not on the trials of life.  We need to listen to His Word and not the lies of Satan.  The devil doesn’t want us to live for Christ nor does he want us to have the victory in Christ, so he battles us throughout our life.  Be encouraged today to know that there is victory in the Lord Jesus Christ, and He is with you! He loves you! He will be your help to live in victory, one moment at a time, even though your circumstances may be overwhelming.
