Every Promise is Mine

There was a period of time when several people told my husband that they thought he shouldn’t spend time on the hymns like he did at the beginning of each Facing Tomorrow radio program; however, he chose to listen to the leading of God’s voice, and kept on reading and commenting on the old hymns.  I am so glad he did!  This morning, as I do every morning, I listened to his radio broadcasts, and our Father used a hymn to boost my spirits and rejoice my heart.  It actually was a chorus, but nonetheless, it was what I needed to hear—Every promise in the book is mine.  Yes! Every promise in the Bible is mine. And, dear reader,  every promise is yours too.  We have access to every promise of God in the Word He has given us.  Are you facing some kind of trouble? Psalm 46:1 declares that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. II Corinthians 1:10 tells us that the Lord has delivered, does deliver, and will yet deliver us, and Psalm 91:15 promises us that in our troubles He will be with us.  Maybe you are uncertain right now on what path you are supposed to take.  Proverbs 3:6 is a great promise in such a situation—In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. What comfort His promises bring.  I love the I shalls that are throughout the Bible.  Those are glorious words of promise that we can believe, hold on to and securely stand upon.

Take some time to listen to a segment of my husband's radio broadcast, Facing Tomorrow:

My husband claimed promises continually, and this morning I was reminded again that every promise of God belongs to all of His children.  I remember so clearly when my husband came to show me the answer in the Bible that God had given him regarding whether or not He wanted us to move from Montana to Indiana.  It was I Kings 17:8-9, and literally a dear widow woman in Indiana sustained us the first several months after we moved there.  As we were preparing to move, I was becoming a bit unsettled with all of the newness and the unknowns that accompanies a move across the country.  I brought it before the Lord, and one morning soon after that, as I was waking from sleep, Jeremiah 29:11– For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end, was coming to my mind while at the same time peace was flooding my soul. He thinks of us!  His thoughts are of peace toward us!  He has an expected end for us!  Such comforting promises as these sure do help us go forward in the way that He leads.  I know I have mentioned this verse before, but it is such a favorite promise of mine that I am going to mention it again—Deuteronomy 31:8, And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed. Dwelling on God’s promises will remove fear that attempts to settle in upon us.  I loved the simplicity of my husband’s child-like faith which simply believed that whatever our Heavenly Father promised belonged to His children, and they were there for the claiming.
