I'd Rather Have Jesus

This year I haven’t had the same “child like” excitement for the Christmas season.  The one I shared it with for 18 years of marriage isn’t here to share it with me, which has dimmed the.sparkle and joy.  It was difficult for me to put up the Christmas tree, because my beloved husband wasn’t here to do it with me.  His enjoyment of hanging candy canes on the tree and directing me as to where they needed to be placed was absent.  My Christmas tree is up and twinkling with candy canes, because God in His mercy and love, moved upon two dear friends to come over and help me put it up.  The sparkle and joy is dimmed in my heart, but the reason for the season has been daily getting brighter within me, and especially after listening to one of my husband’s radio broadcast where he highlighted the hymn, I’d Rather Have Jesus.  The Lord Jesus has never left me.  He is a constant friend and companion that is with me wherever I go, and in whatever circumstance I find myself to be in.  I know that the Christmas season, for many, brings sorrow and heartache, maybe because a loved one is no longer there.  I want to encourage you to look up and see the Light of the world—-Jesus!  He is a Friend that sticks closer than a brother—-or any loved one that is no longer with us.  The joy of this season is His birth!  Think of it…Jesus Christ was born to die on Calvary for you and for me so that we can know Heaven as our eternal home.  The earthly joy may be dimmed, but turn your eyes upon Jesus and you will see that the eternal joy continues to shine brightly!

I also wanted to share with you something the Lord gave me the other day as I was praying for a friend who presently is walking through a fiery trial.

When it appears bleak and dark remember

Jesus is the Light of the world

His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path

He will shine light on your way when it is needed

When your heart is overwhelmed remember

Jesus is our Rock and He is higher than we are

He has everything in His and the Father’s perfect control

They are walking with you, They are holding you

When you feel confused and not sure which decisions to make, remember

Jesus is not the author of confusion—Satan is

When you lack wisdom ask Him for wisdom believing, doubting nothing

He is wisdom and He has promised to give wisdom when we ask.

When you feel you can’t do this anymore, remember

Jesus is your strength, your peace, your help, your friend

Cease any struggle that is occurring and simply come to Him

He will give you peace and rest beyond comprehending

His everlasting arms are underneath you

The shadow of His wings are covering you

The greatness of His power will sustain and help you

You are His, and He knows exactly where you are—rest in Him.

I know you miss him? Jeannine. Tom was such an exciting, fun and positive guy to be around. You are doing a terrific job of carrying on his ministry! How are Tim and his family doing? "I'd Rather have Jesus" was one of the songs I would often play on my trombone when Tom and I would minister together. That and "Follow Me." Dave Nicholas

Yes, I miss his like crazy! But, it does bring me joy to know that he is in the very presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thanks for your encouragement. Tim and his family are doing well. He will be a grandpa again, this time having a granddaughter. Praying for you, your family, and Shasta Bible College.
