Rejoice

Rejoice in the Lord alway; and again I say, Rejoice—Philippians 4:4.  He is an abundant God!  He is abundant in mercy; abundant in grace; abundant in love; abundant in provision; abundant in pardon; abundant in all things!  His abundance is beyond the comprehension of our finite minds for His abundance exceeds all that we could ever imagine!  Therefore, when our circumstances are difficult, we are still able to rejoice in the Lord!  He never runs out of supply to meet our every need—But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus—Philippians 4:19. He is always with us, watching over us, going before us and making a way where there doesn’t seem to be a way.  He knows our thoughts before we think them; He knows our hearts better than we know it ourselves; and yet, He loves us with an everlasting love and continually stands ready to forgive us.  Habakkuk put it so perfectly in chapter 3, verses 17-19—Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.

Many people asked Dr. Williams how he could be so joyful, and happy when his wife, Pam was sick for so long.  His response was always the same—My God isn’t sick!  He was able to walk into a room and lighten it up with his sense of humor, and his larger than life personality.  It wasn’t that he didn’t have his times of sorrow and weeping. Of course he experienced those times, but he didn’t let his circumstances control his attitude.  He kept his eyes upon the Lord Jesus, and was able to rejoice in the Lord, because the Lord was never sick, never unavailable, and the Lord never left his side.  The same is true for you and me.  The Lord is always available to us, and He will never leave us or forsake us in any way.  He lives, and He always will!  One day we are going to see our Lord Jesus Christ face to face, and all our heart aches will be gone.  We will praise the Lord and rejoice in Him forever, so why don’t we take the challenge from Philippians 4:4 as well as Habakkuk 3:17-19 and rejoice in the Lord regardless of our outward circumstances.  Our bank account may be empty, but God’s supply is never empty—rejoice!  Our family and friends may have grown cold in their love toward us, but God’s love is everlasting—rejoice!  Our health may be in decline, but God’s strength never weakens—Rejoice!  Our God is Mighty!  His everlasting arms are underneath us!  Jesus Christ our Lord is coming again!  Rejoice, and then rejoice again.

Hello Sister Williams, I am glad that I serve a God that knows everything about what I need and when I need it! This morning, 6/19/26, my wife and I were having our morning devotions like we always do and have been doing for decades and we read the Psalms and Proverbs that go with this day and then we sing a song after that. We sang Rejoice the Lord is King and in the Hymnal that we have it has 12 verses. By the time that we got to verse 10 I was crying like a baby! That would have been enough to see me through this day but God decided to put a cherry on top …
