If I Pray, I Won't Faint

The daily Bible verse that came up today was Luke 18:1–And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.  As I read that verse, I could hear, in my mind, my husband saying, I make one conclusion from this verse, if I pray, I won’t faint when life’s difficulties come.  He often challenged Christians to not give up praying from this portion of Scripture.  He not only exhorted us to keep praying, but He showed us, by example, how true this promise is—God will avenge His own who keep on coming to Him day and night in prayer.  I sure miss my mighty prayer warrior!  Time and again, he prayed for me day and night until the answer came.  He prayed several years for me and my body’s intolerance to dairy. Then one day during one of our travels, he said to me, I have assurance God has healed your intolerance to dairy.  We had just sat down at a table in a restaurant when he told me that, so I ordered something off the menu and didn’t ask them to hold the cheese.  I have been enjoying dairy products to this day.  Another time that was so special to me was when he prayed throughout the night for me and the severe sinus infection I had at that time.  We were on the east coast at a meeting, and I was going to also be speaking the next day to the ladies.  My sinus infection was so bad that I could not lay flat when I went to bed, but had to sit up, and I would always get nauseous when I experienced severe sinus infections.  He prayed throughout that night, and early in the morning he told me it would be gone when I got up, and it was—completely gone!  He prayed for many couples who were unable to have children, and for one specific couple, he had prayed with them for nine years before the answer came—God gave them a son!  He had learned by experience in his own life that tenacious prayer does prevail.

Listen to a segment from one of Dr. Williams' sermons:

My husband would say, I don’t know what you’re going through, but keep praying and don’t give up.  Prayer is not only calling upon God, but it is a conflict with our enemy, Satan.  Daniel prayed 3 weeks before an answer came—Daniel 10:12-13.  May I encourage you to keep seeking the Lord about whatever it is that you are going through.  He will help you.  He will strengthen you. He will answer, because He has promised to answer when we call—Jeremiah 33:3.  As my husband did, we too can hold on to the promises of God’s Word as we keep going to God in prayer.  If we pray, we won’t faint in life’s adversities.
